Pair of Bulldogs earn All-IEL baseball honors

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint junior infielder Quinn Pearlstein and freshman outfielder Talon Dewey each earned a spot on the All-4A Inland Empire League baseball team, as voted on recently by the league’s coaches.

Pearlstein hit .303 on the season, including .380 down the stretch as the Bulldogs continued to make strides in a rebuilding process. First year Sandpoint head coach Scott Fitchett called Pearlstein a leader and will count of the versatile player to lead the team next season.

“He was our leader on and off the field,” said Fitchett, noting Pearlstein played short, second and first this year. “He was recognized for his versatility and his leadership.”

Freshman Talon Dewey earned a spot on the team as an outfielder, and will be one of the key building blocks on future teams. An arm injury prevented him from pitching, but the tall, hard throwing lefty will be one of the staff aces moving forward.

“He hit .286 on the year and was recognizes by the other coaches as a skilled outfielder with a great arm,” described Fitchett of Dewey.
