PRIEST RIVER — A recalcitrant kayaker was rescued along the Priest River early Sunday morning after capsizing at Binarch Creek Rapids the previous day, according to Priest Lake Search & Rescue.
The man was part of two-vessel party that was paddling the river while camping at Priest Lake’s Outlet Bay. The man’s kayak was swamped by the Class III rapids and he fell into the river at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Class III rapids are characterized by moderate, irregular waves which may be difficult to avoid and capable of swamping open-topped vessels.
