Anderson's retirement is welcome news

| March 4, 2014 6:00 AM

On Feb. 17, we learned that Eric Anderson, five-term Legislative District 1A representative, suddenly announced his retirement to concentrate on spending more time on quagga and zebra mussels.

A surprising turn of events, given that just a month earlier he announced that he was ramping his campaign chest for this re-election campaign to even more than in 2012, when he spent a whopping $45,000 (to win a $16,000-a-year-job). “I’m going at this (campaign) as if I’m on the ropes,” were his words.
