Pair of Bulldogs named to All-Star hoops teams
COEUR d’ALENE — A pair of Bulldogs will get one more chance to enjoy high school hoops, as the participants for the boys and girls 2014 Idaho State High School All-Star Basketball Games were announced recently by the North Idaho College Athletics Department.
The eleventh annual statewide all-star game is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, at NIC’s Christianson Gym in Coeur d’Alene. The games are sanctioned by the Idaho High School Activities Association.
Seniors Hailey Olin and Jeremiah Gagnon will get one final chance to represent Sandpoint. Bill Bender earned the honor of coaching the North girls team, but could not make it and was replaced by Priest River’s Gary Stewart.
The event will be a doubleheader format with high school seniors playing on teams representing all divisions of northern and southern Idaho. The competition begins with the girls’ game at 1 p.m. followed by the boys’ game at 3:30 p.m. The event will include a three-point shooting contest with the girls competing against the boys and a slam-dunk contest between the games.
Players were chosen by a selection committee of sportswriters and broadcasters from throughout the state. The committee selected 12 players, two alternates and coaches for the four teams.
Admission to the game is $8 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens and will be available at the door and sponsor locations.
