Vikings rout Bulldogs in openers
COEUR d’ALENE — Brooke Albertson drove in eight runs and homered twice, leading the Vikings past the Bulldogs 25-0 and 16-1 in a season opening nonleague doubleheader Tuesday at Larry Schwenke Field.
Ana Raynor also drove in five runs in the first game for Coeur d’Alene, which had six players collect multi-hit games. Breana Burke struck out seven in the win.
“We just tore the cover off the ball and really hit it hard,” Coeur d’Alene coach Larry Bieber said. “They put the ball in play a little more in the second game, so we played some defense and played really well all the way around.”
Freshman Sam Holland ripped a double and finished with two hits, Lucinda Calvert added a pair of singles and Kaylee Poulin a hit for the Bulldogs (0-2), who host Bonners Ferry in a home opener on Tuesday.
