Hopefully, encounter was just a mere fluke

My husband and I came to visit my parents recently and witnessed something that has been weighing heavy on my heart.

My father and his two best buddies have coffee and breakfast every Friday morning, and my husband was able to join. My father, who is quite possibly the kindest, most selfless human being on this planet, had just celebrated his birthday, and asked if they offer complimentary birthday beverages.
