Big first inning propels Trojans past Bulldogs

POST FALLS — Tayler Ekness went 4 for 4 with five RBIs and two runs scored, as Post Falls plated 10 runs in the first inning en route to an 18-6 win over Sandpoint on Wednesday in nonleague softball at Post Falls High School.

Junior Topi Elsfelder and senior Gabi Jones each had two hits for the Bulldogs (3-14), who erupted for five runs in the fourth inning.

Alexis Murray went 3 for 3 with three runs scored for Post Falls (1-15), which lost 14-4 in the first meeting with Sandpoint.

Nycole Moreland went the distance in defeat for Sandpoint, which travels to Lakeland today for a 4A Inland Empire League doubleheader.
