SANDPOINT — A couple of phone scams appear to be making the rounds in Bonner County.

One scam involves a recorded message from a man purporting to be from the Internal Revenue Service, while the other involves a debt collector and a man who claims to be a Bonner County sheriff’s deputy.

Sandra Wolters said she received a stern recorded message Monday from a man claiming money was owed to the IRS and there would be “consequences” if it was not paid over the phone by calling a number.
