SANDPOINT — For the skilled woodsman, the forest isn’t just a place to hike, camp and unwind — it’s also a classroom.

There’s no better proof of that than the annual Idaho State Forestry Contest. The competition, which was held Thursday, attracted almost 700 students, foresters and teachers to Delay Farms between Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene. Students arrived from as far north as Bonners Ferry and as far south as Weippe to test their woodland know-how.
