SANDPOINT — A preliminary hearing has been reset for an Idaho State Police trooper accused of felony theft and fraud in Bonner County.

The hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to justify trying Daniel Charles Howard was set for last week, but is now slated for Wednesday.

Howard’s defense counsel, Spokane attorney Chris Bugbee, moved for the continuance because he hasn’t received all of the discovery in the case and needs time to review the investigative materials, court records show.

Howard, 48, of Athol, is charged with forgery, title fraud and grand theft. He is free on his own recognizance while the case is pending.
