Hale set to make professional MMA debut

SANDPOINT — After making a name for himself in the amateur ranks of mixed martial arts, Sandpoint’s John Hale will step it up another notch, making his professional debut tonight at the King of the Cage Seek and Destroy MMA fights at the Coeur d’Alene Casino.

Hale (0-0), who has fought on the King of the Cage cards in the past, will face Joaquin Calderon (3-0) in a fight at 135 pounds. Hale expects the fight to go to the ground, as Calderon made a name for himself as a college wrestler at North Idaho College.
