Bulldogs bounced from state volleyball tourney

KIMBERLY — Their good moments were strong, but lulls in play proved costly for the Bulldog volleyball team on day one of the 4A state tournament on Friday at Kimberly High School near Twin Falls.

Taylor Martin posted team-highs with 38 kills and 31 digs, but the Bulldogs (16-18) couldn’t sustain enough consistency, losing 25-12, 25-12, 25-27, 22-25, 15-10 to Bishop Kelly in the opener, then falling 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 25-20 to Preston in the consolation bracket, knocking them out of the tournament.

“We are very disappointed to be heading home on the first day,” said first year head coach Erin Roos. “Bishop Kelly and Preston were good teams, but definitely teams we could beat when we play together.”
