Bokowy, Deitz lead Bulldogs at state

| November 8, 2014 6:00 AM

BOISE — Freshman Payton Bokowy made a splash in her first state races, posting the top qualifying time in the 100 free and the third fastest time in the 50 free to lead the Bulldog swimmers on day one of the Idaho State Swim Championships Friday at the Boise Aquatics Center.

Fellow freshman Emily Deitz finished third in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 individual medley, sophomore Kate Matlosz fifth in the 50 free and 13th in the 100 breast, and Madison Contor 15th in the 100 free to advance to today’s finals. Only the top 16 times advance to the finals, and with some of the fields boasting more than 40 swimmers, that was no easy task.
