| November 11, 2014 6:00 AM

In memory of the Hope area boys of World War II on Veterans Day, I wanted to list their names. There are some whose names I don’t have and also, I believe their were six Hope girls who joined the armed forces.

They are: George Elton Anderson, Alfred Carl Arvidson, Lyle Orville Babcock, Orville Calvin Berkey, Robert R. Berkey, Fritchop Leonard Berntston, Harold J. Best, J.C. Best, Robert Edger Bradbury, James Robert Campbell, Roy Francis Carson, Bruce Edward Coldwell, Benjamin David Coldwell, William Cuthbert Coldwell, Laverne Alvin Coulthard;

Paul Robert Croy, Maurice David DeMers, Henry Hugh Eagan (killed in action), Hilding Mauritz Erickson, David Robert Eveland, Francis Styer Eveland, Calvin Oscar Foltz, Frank Ambrose Glahe, Lawrence Wilson Glahe, Robert William Green, Joseph Carl Hindman, Donald Dean Hoss;

Herbert F. Johnson, Vernon Reynolds Johnson, Albert L. Kelly, Robert Kenneth Kelly, Delbert Don Leaverton, Jack Dean Leaverton, Roy Edger Long, Robert Lee McChesnie, John H. McDonald, Roland Keith McFadden, William Roger McFadden, Howard R. McLain, George Hill Phillips, Eli Pnock, Nicolas Ponack;

Hardy Richard Rojan, Wesley Rojan, Frank H. Rounsville, Howard Harry Rounsville, Harold Anton Schilling, Francis Vivian Sharai, David Buryl Styer, Richard Russell Therein, Burton H. Van Stone, Oakley Wilson Waring Jr., Berkley Verrall Yaryan and Jack William Yaryan. Two others, Herbert Oliver and Harold Walker, went to school at Hope.

These are the names I have in the book, “Our Boys”, published on March 31, 1944. Is there a list of Bonner County boys of World War II?
