COEUR d’ALENE — An Idaho State Police trooper facing criminal charges in two counties is expected to change his plea at the end of the month after an agreement with the Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office.

Daniel Howard, who is on administrative leave without pay, had five of seven felony charges initially filed against him dropped in the deal.

Howard, 48, was charged with the multiple felonies and two misdemeanors last spring.  In Bonner County, Howard was facing a charge of forgery, grand theft and fraud in connection with his registration of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The forgery and grand theft charges were dismissed.
