Holly Eve to ring in holidays

SANDPOINT – In the spirit of an old show biz axiom that says, “Never follow an animal act onstage,” little “Evie” the Labrador puppy might try to steal the show at Saturday’s Holly Eve celebration.

Fortunately, just as it has done for the past 33 years, this year’s annual ringing in of the Sandpoint holiday season promises variety show quality entertainment, bigger and better auction items and a record number of restaurants and caterers providing hors d’oeuvres, making it a tough act for even the cutest puppy to follow.

Evie is just one of the auction items to be found at the 34th annual Holly Eve celebration, set for this Saturday, Nov. 22. The yuletide tradition has grown to the point where it now takes both sides of First Avenue to accommodate the festivities, according to Marilyn Sabella, founder and organizer of the event.
