Host of Bulldogs voted to District 1 XC team

SANDPOINT — Four Sandpoint girls and four boys earned a spot on the “Dirty Dozen,” as District 1 cross country coaches voted for the top 12 boys and girls runners in North Idaho.

State champions Sharon Rowe, Mikhaela Woodward, Rainey Woodward and Katherine Kaul each made the girls team, and Jacob Graham, Sam Powell, Kenneth Kovalchuk and Matt Cloud were each voted to the boys team.

Coeur d’Alene’s Kara Story was named the Girls Runner of the Year, and Lake City’s Jake Finney was named the Boys Runner of the Year.

The Bulldogs also held their team awards recently, with the following athletes winning awards:

• Most Valuable Runners — Sam Powell, Jacob Graham, Mikhaela Woodward and Katherine Kaul.

• Team Captains — Mikhaela Woodward, Emily Marshall, Sam Powell and Kenny Kovalchuk.

• Coaches’ Awards — Rainey Woodward, Sharon Rowe, Corinne McClelland, Mark Kennaly, Andy McGinnis and Logan Finney.

• Scholastic Achievement — Kenny Kovalchuk and Lauren Orr.

• Will Johnson Award — Emily Marshall and Matt Cloud.

• Most Improved — Claire Pierce and Kenny Kovalchuk.
