CLARK FORK — Senior running back Brandan Bowen, who scored a whopping 31 touchdowns, joined senior defensive end Wyatt Stevens and junior lineman Eich Anderson in earning All-White Star League football league honors, as voted on recently by the league’s coaches.

Unlike the old North Star League format, the new eight team league named a first and second team, with the Cats earning a lot of respect.

Bowen, who also played safety, received the second most votes in the league, after scoring touchdowns by way of running, catching, throwing, fumble return, kick return, punt return and interception return, at times unstoppable in games.

“On both sides of the ball, he dominated most games,” said Wampus Cat head coach Brian Arthun. “He had speed, ran with power and scored a lot of touchdowns for us. He’ll be sorely missed next year.”

Stevens scored eight touchdowns on the season, and provided a powerful change of pace for tough between-the-tackles yards at running back, but it was his play at defensive end that earned him the fourth most votes in the league.

He had six sacks and safety in one game, and most importantly, set the edge on defense, a huge weapon on the expansive eight man football fields. A quick first step made him tough to handle for opposing tackles, and his speed shut down a lot of offense.

“Defensive end is one of the most important positions in eight man, because he has contain,” said Arthun. “Wyatt was all over the field, relentless. He ran guys down from the backside, and was constantly in the offensive backfield creating havoc.”

Junior two-way lineman Eich Anderson was named to the second team, the only other Wampus Cat honored. Arthun said Anderson made huge strides from his sophomore year, and expects the trend to continue next year.

“He’s a road grader on the offensive line, able to push guys back. He had good gap responsibility on defense,” described Arthun. “I can see him having a good senior year, building off that.”
