Sandpoint team holds own at Special Olympics tournament
SANDPOINT — A host of Sandpoint bowlers brought home medals from the Regional Special Olympics Bowling Tournament in Coeur d’Alene recently. There were 75 bowlers from Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint and the Silver Valley.
Teammates and best friends Eliyah Allen and Brandon Beck each received third place in their divisions, and Kevin Collins finished second in his division. They each bowl three games in a row and it can be pretty tiring, especially for the younger members.
Twelve-year-old Bradey Scrimsher finished first in his division.
“All of the Sandpoint team members worked really hard and kept a positive attitude throughout the tournament,” said coach Chris Painter. “They were just Awesome.”
Lee Hudson, Bradey Scrimsher and Samantha Wilkenson recieved first place in their divisions. Second place finishers were Bob Liechtman, Hayey Thompson and Kevin Collins. Recieving third place in their divisions were Chelsie Dennis, Cara Warren, Eliyah Allen, Bradon Beck, Jackson Barth, John Painter, Michelle Couldry and Missy Laker. Tammy Shivel recieved forth place in her division while Sahl Underwood, Robin Dillworth and Natasha Freeburg received fifth places. Lillian Campbell recieved a participant ribbon.
The team couldn’t have managed without their fabulous coaches and volunteers: Fran Guttin, Val Olson, Destinie Warren, Jim and Martina Couldry and Patrick and Jeana Beck, and the support of Huckleberry Lanes.
