SANDPOINT — With the new school year comes a new focus on Idaho Core Standards, and teachers are busy preparing students for the first round of official testing.

According to Lake Pend Oreille School District Superintendent Shawn Woodward, the 2014-2015 school year will provide the district with its first round of data after students take the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. While a prototype of the test was given earlier this year, the sessions were largely meant to calibrate the test for individual grade levels rather than properly evaluate student achievement, Woodward said.

“It’ll be really interesting to get those baseline results,” he added.
