Kokanee habitat project starting at Bayview
BAYVIEW — A new approach to improving kokanee spawning habitat is being rolled out on Lake Pend Oreille this month.
A joint study conducted by the Idaho Department of Fish & Game and the University of Idaho last year deflated a long-held belief that a higher winter pool level aided kokanee egg survival because it provided the maximum amount of spawning habitat.
Although the study closed the door on one notion, it opened the door to another promising notion.
