Farmers market is not a dog show
The signs are clearly posted in Farmin Park: “No dogs allowed.”
Despite the signage, the associated regulation and the market’s “dog policy,” the safety and the enjoyment of market patrons is put at risk by owners who insist on parading their dogs through, across and into the heart of the market.
On Saturday morning, the Farmin Park sidewalks are intended to handle “people traffic” and, when folks stop to make purchases and share conversation, they naturally become congested. Add to that small dogs suffering from a “Napoleon complex” and, big dogs who are just big, and you got all the ingredients for gridlock and confrontation.
