SANDPOINT — Taylor Martin posted a double-double, but the Bulldogs came up short on Senior Night, getting swept 25-18, 29-27, 25-16 by 5A Lake City on Tuesday night in nonleague volleyball at Les Rogers Court.

Natalie Taylor posted six kills, 10 digs and five aces, Brittany Gay added 18 set assists and Nina Carlson four blocks to lead the Timberwolves (15-9).

“We played well defensively,” said head coach Brett Taylor. “We served pretty good as a whole.”

Martin finished with a match-high 10 kills to go with 13 digs, Darbey Scrimsher had 25 assists and Kayla Neumann seven kills in defeat for the Bulldogs (14-15), who celebrated a big senior class before the match.

Martin, Scrimsher, Lexi Riley, Beca Klopman, Amy Shepard, Trinity Young, Alexis Bussey, Taylor Lunde and Hailey Dunn were honored on a busy Senior Night.

“It was a nice night to honor the seniors. I played all of the seniors in the first set,” said Bulldogs head coach Erin Roos, lauding Dunn, who came out for one serve after sitting out her season with an injury. “She’s been there the whole time, shagging balls and helping from the first day.”

Sandpoint hosts 5A state champion Lewiston on Thursday. The Bulldogs have faced the two-time state champs twice already this season, losing a close match in the last meeting. The match will serve as a final tuneup to the district playoffs.

The start times Thursday have changed, with the JV and J2 matches starting simultaneously at 4 p.m., with varsity action slated to follow at 5:30 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.
