'Losing Julia Finch' tells tell of love, Sandpoint
SANDPOINT — “It’s definitely one of those films that we couldn’t have shot anywhere else,” said Jeff Bock.
He and two co-producers recently completed shooting a film in Sandpoint … an adaptation of a short story by local author, Keith Lee Morris, who was born and raised here.
Bock, the film’s director and co-producer, was himself raised in Sandpoint from the age of two, and a little over a year ago while residing in Los Angeles, California, he picked up a copy of one of Morris’ works entitled “Losing Julia Finch,” a short story from the published collection entitled “The Best Seats in the House and Other Stories. He was first introduced to Morris’ publications by his Sandpoint High School English teacher, Marianne Love, who helped begin a correspondence between the two writers. Bock presented the story, and the seed, to be adapted into a film to fellow Montana State University Film School alumnus and professional actor, Mark Kuntz.
