KOOTENAI — Anna Alsager hammered home 20 kills to go with four blocks, and Maddie Sanford added nine kills and 20 set assists, leading the Kootenai Thunder volleyball team to a 23-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-21, 15-10 come-from-behind win over the Oaks in Mountain Christian League volleyball action recently at Kootenai Middle School.

The Thunder, who are now 11-2 in MCL play, avenged an earlier season loss to the Oaks, and the two figure to battle for league supremacy. Rebecca Budai added seven blocks and four aces, Hali Aller 15 assists and 12 digs and Angela Shepherd five aces in the five set win.

The Thunder also swept House of Lord in Priest River, 25-13, 25-9, 25-13, as the league season winds down.

With strong depth and defense, and the power and blocking of Alsager, Kootenai is currently in second place in the nine team MCL, and will be a force to be reckoned with at the season-ending tournament.

The Thunder boys soccer team was also in action, beating Oaks of Spokane Valley 8-1. Alex O’Shea led the way with four goals, Shayne Jensen added a pair of goals, both assisted by Jimmy Soderberg, and Peter Soderberg and Gage Sigman each found the back of the net to cap the scoring in the blowout win.

The Thunder are now 6-1-1 in Mountain Christian League play.
