Home-invasion suspect has a troubling past
SANDPOINT — The alleged perpetrator of a home-invasion attack on a Sandpoint family on Tuesday has a first-degree murder conviction in Washington state.
Randy Carl Eiland’s criminal history factored into Judge Debra Heise’s decision on Wednesday to set his bail at $500,000. Heise also entered an order forbidding Eiland from having any contact with the alleged victims in the case and appointed a public defender to represent him.
Eiland made in an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court via video link from the Bonner County Jail.
Eiland, 50, was arrested on suspicion of committing battery with intent to commit a serious felony in connection with the attack in southwest Sandpoint.
