SANDPOINT — Thursday will be a sober one as citizens both local and national remember the fallen Americans from Sept. 11 terror attacks and the wars that followed.

The victims of the 2001 attacks, the first responders that perished in the towers or afterward from exposure to harmful elements and the soldiers killed in subsequent overseas conflicts will be honored in a series of events set for the day. Of special note to local residents is U.S. Air Force Capt. David I. Lyon of Sandpoint, who will be acknowledged by Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter and Lt. Gov. Brad Little with special recognition and a presentation to his family.
