Tigers sweep Cats in NSL opener
CLARK FORK — Charli Saddler posted three kills and six digs, and Robbyn Trogden tallied four assists to lead Mullan to a straight set 25-20, 25-13, 25-21 sweep of the Wampus Cats on Tuesday in North Star League volleyball action at Clark Fork High School.
Bree Ploharz had several long service runs for the Tigers, who were able to turn things up each time a set got tight.
“That’s a good win,” said Tigers coach Dawn McKinnon, lauding her team’s teamwork. “It takes a team to win a ball game, it takes all six.”
Leslie Kiebert had seven kills, including some strong bombs from the back row, to go with three aces to lead the Wampus Cats ( 1-3, 0-1 NSL) in defeat. Emily Garman tallied nine digs and Allison Warner four aces, as the Cats went on several nice runs, but also gave up some points in bunches.
“Leslie was a good team leader tonight,” said Cats head coach Courtenay Kiebert. “We need to work on our communication. A lot of ball that were out they played. We didn’t take the free points they gave us.”
Clark Fork is at Kootenai on Thursday.
