SANDPOINT — Local organization Sandpoint Vegetarians is celebrating following a victory in the legal battle against the so-called “ag gag” bill signed into law earlier this year.

Last week, a federal district court allowed a lawsuit against the legislation to proceed despite a motion by the opposing legal team to have the case thrown out. Members of Sandpoint Vegetarians, one of the many animal and civil rights groups supporting the lawsuit, found the ruling to be a heartening endorsement of their case’s validity.

“We were all ecstatic that the higher-level court ruled in our favor,” said Sandpoint Vegetarians member Eric Ridgway.
