New program targets bullying

SANDPOINT — Everyone knows bullying is a problem in almost every school.

What’s less clear is how to resolve the situations in a way that puts an end to the problem once and for all.

Some anti-bullying initiatives go after the bully, imposing harsh punishments when situations arise. However, according to counselor Rob Wakeley, that often just encourages the bully or prompts him or her to take their harassment outside the school. Now a series of classes from the Life Skills NW pool of personal skill-building programs is set to equip victims with the resources they need to handle bullying situations.
