County votes to part ways with Selkirk Fire
SANDPOINT — Selkirk Fire, Rescue and EMS’s informal conversation with Bonner County about acquiring additional reimbursement funds to expand emergency medical services in the Careywood area has been abruptly silenced.
Not only did Bonner County commissioners decide Wednesday not provide the additional funds, they voted not to renew the contract altogether.
“We felt we could provide better services for EMS for less money than we’re doing it now,” Bonner County Commission Chairman Cary Kelly said.
It was a pragmatic decision, according to Kelly, that centers on control. Control of services, funding, and tracking expenses.
