Bulldogs fall short in 4-3 loss at Post Falls
POST FALLS — Talon Dewey, Caiden Oliver and Davan Norris each had two hits, but a close play at the plate went against the Bulldogs, who fell 4-3 to the 5A Trojans on Tuesday in nonleague baseball at Post Falls High School.
Jackson Russo and Talon Dewey each had RBIs in the sixth inning, and a Davan Norris double nearly tied the game at 4-4 but a tough call went against the Bulldogs (2-5).
“Norris had a double and Talon tried to score from first. It was a bang-bang play at the plate, the umpire called him out, and I disagreed,” said Bulldogs head coach Scott Fitchett. “Overall we played pretty well.”
Patrick Kummer continues to give the Bulldogs strong innings from the mound, holding a 5A offense relatively in check after giving up three runs in the first inning.
Jacob Elliott struck out six over four innings and two relievers combined to fan four and Treavor Hammel had a two-run single in the first inning for Post Falls (7-3-1).
The Bulldogs notched a 9-4 win over Priest River and lost 5-4 to Bonners Ferry in a pair of games against 3A IML teams over Spring Break.
Sandpoint travels to Lake City on Thursday for a makeup game.
