Freshman Baldree fans 16 in Sandpoint's loss to Priest River

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint freshman pitcher Bri Baldree fanned 16 Spartans in the opener, but the Bulldogs were swept by the Spartans on Wednesday in a nonleague doubleheader at Sandpoint Middle School.

Baldree also laced a triple, and Morgan Bluemer had three hits for the Bulldogs (1-4), who were plagued by five errors in a 10-7 loss in game one.

“Bri stepped up on the mound and produced, and Sam (Holland) was solid behind the plate,” said Bulldogs head coach Elizabeth Hawkins. “The battery was the driving force on the team.”
