UI honors Sandpoint native

SANDPOINT — His 41-page curriculum vitae — a type of academic resume — lists his professional interests as control systems, estimation theory, neural networks — even fuzzy logic.

He was appointed chief scientist to the United States Air Force by President Ronald Reagan; the North Atlantic Treaty Organization — NATO — sought his advice. His security clearance? Top secret.

“I don’t have that now,”  Dr. Allen R. Stubberud said. “I’m an old man.”

Stubberud, now professor emeritus at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of California, Irvine, has done so much with his life and his skills, that it would be a challenging exercise to chart the accomplishments of his nearly 50-year career on a timeline.
