Strikers U17 team claims Stevensville Tournament championship

| April 16, 2015 7:00 AM

STEVENSVILLE, Mont. — In the pursuit of dry ground to play soccer, the U17 Sandpoint Strikers girls headed east to Stevensville, Mont., recently, going 3-0 to claim the championship.

In their first game they came out a little slow trying to get accustomed to the larger field and the speed of the ball on grass. As the game progressed the girls found their stride and Hamilton proved to be no match for Sandpoint. Caroline Suppiger scored twice, and Paige DuMars and Caroline Hawkins added goals in a 4-0 win. DuMars and Sarah Beck posted a shutout in goal.
