What does blood have to do with it?

Often one subject leads to another. Robin Hanson, Bonner General Health Community Development Assistant and I were having a conversation about Cancer Care Services fundraising tea that was held last Saturday.

The two of us had attended and we were waxing poetic about what a lovely event it was and how poignant the shared stories of survival were. And what a needed service these wonderful volunteers provide our community.

We were talking about the great decorations and the blood-red roses in our table centerpiece when she asked, “Did you know that 30 percent of blood collected at blood drives is given to cancer patients?” Well then, that took us down a bunny trail, didn’t it?
