Supreme Court rules in Priest River woman's labor case

SANDPOINT — The Idaho Supreme Court is affirming the denial of unemployment benefits to a former Thorne Research employee who quit because her job aggravated her bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome.

Gina Poledna started working for the dietary supplement manufacturer in 2002 and over time began experiencing pain in her wrists. A physician diagnosed her as having ganglion cysts in both wrists and recommended she wear a brace.

Poledna’s wrist pain worsened and her physician advised her that her work caused the carpal tunnel pain to get worse. Poledna requested to be reassigned to another post, but Thorne officials told her no other type of work was available.
