LPOHS earns applause for improvements
SANDPOINT — Lake Pend Oreille High School has been recognized by the Idaho Department of Education for its efforts to improve the educational environment at the alternative school over the last year.
A summary Focus Report, issued after a March 3 review of the school, noted “exceptional improvement” in the areas of classroom management, student engagement and communicating the purpose of learning targets.
The report wasn’t so glowing last year.
“The state told us something had to change,” according to LPOHS Principal Geoff Penrose, now into his second year at the helm of the alternative high school. “They gave us some fairly focused suggestions.”
