Keep to facts on coal and oil trains

| August 2, 2015 7:00 AM

Coal trains with radioactivity? Heavy metals in coal dust? Is this straight out of the bible of the Keepers of the Waters? Missoula, Mont., wondered about coal dumping off from loaded cars passing through town and did the sensible thing: a study by the Public Health Department. Note the study was not paid for by the rail companies nor by the greenies. (Missoula City-County Health Department, McCrone Group, Chicago, June 2012). Very few coal and dust containments were found near and next to the tracks; that was the end of that study and worries. The worst pollutants were wood burning and vehicles.
