Bonner County Rodeo turning pro
SANDPOINT — Listen up cowboys and cowgirls: The Bonner County Rodeo will feature the top regional professionals this weekend, as the event is partnering for the first time with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as part of the Columbia River Circuit on Aug. 7-8 at the Bonner County Fairgrounds.
As always, the rodeo will feature bull riding, rough stock, bareback riding, saddle bronc, team roping, tie-down roping and steer wrestling for the cowboys, and barrel racing for the cowgirls, along with the usual rodeo revelry and pageantry.
Longtime Bonner County Rodeo Committee president Jimmy Cornelius is excited to step things up a notch, and believes fans will be treated to top notch action.
“We’re moving up from amateur to the professional level, a higher level in both animals and humans,” describes Cornelius. “It’s a step up, hopefully we’ll end up with a better show. It costs more for animals, the clowns, the purse is bigger.”
