Crews battle new Bayview fire
BAYVIEW — Multiple firefighting agencies are battling a wildfire that began north of Bayview on Tuesday afternoon.
Although the cause of the Three Sisters Fire is still being investigated, it is believed that the approximately 20-acre blaze was caused by humans. At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Karen Sjoquist, a spokeswoman with the Idaho Department of Lands, told The Press that no structures were being threatened by the fire.
The Three Sisters Fire is burning near, but is unrelated to, the Cape Horn Fire, which covered more than 1,300 acres of land near Bayview last month.
Sjoquist added that there were six aircraft working to fight the fire, using both retardant and water from Lake Pend Oreille, throughout the evening.
On Wednesday morning, a Type 3 incident management team will take control of the fire emergency.
