Parker Ridge wildfire grows

PORTHILL — The Parker Ridge fire continues to grow at a moderate rate with the number of acres burned now up to 401.
Started by a lightning strike on July 29, the fire has grown to 263 acres and is 0 percent contained. The fire, which is located about 7 miles southwest of Porthill in northern Boundary County, is being managed by an Arizona Type 3 Central West Zone Incident Management Team.
The high amount of standing dead trees within and around the fire presents substantial safety hazards to firefighters, according to a press release.
