Janet Brooks Wilfert, 61

Janet Brooks Wilfert, 61, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Jan was born on April 20, 1954, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Leonard and Wanda Brooks. She graduated from Moscow High School, and then from the University of Idaho, where she earned her teaching degree.

Jan married Richard Wilfert on Nov. 29, 1974 in Moscow. They lived in Orofino, Helena, and Sandpoint. While in Sandpoint she taught school at Northside, Clark Fork, and Hope elementary schools.

Jan was a member of the Bonner County Democratic Central Committee, she was a precinct committeeman, and a member of the Bonner County Gardeners Association. Her hobbies included stamp collecting as a young woman and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Wilfert of Sandpoint; her mother, Wanda Brooks of Moscow; a sister, Sue (Roger) Swalley of Colfax, Wash.; a brother, Rob (Sue) Brooks of Helena, Mont.; her nephews, Kenneth and Douglas; and her nieces, Jenny and Sami.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Brooks.
