City doesn't need an administrator
In his editorial on the proposed Sandpoint city administrator position, Jim McKiernan voices his support based on a remarkably undiscerning analysis of city officials’ talking points, with only a “pretty please, let us in on the hiring process” caveat. We expect better from a publisher.
First, he opines that “it’s time” to have someone in place to handle administration matters and provide continuity between entering and departing elected officials. Given that even in more populous, prosperous times no one apparently thought it was time, it’s hard to see why now. Department heads always handled their administrative duties; elected officials came and went; transitions were routine.
