SMS sports registration starts after Labor Day

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Middle School would like to remind all parents and students that the fall sports seasons will officially start when school begins after Labor Day.

The schedule for meetings and first practices are as follows:

Girls 7th and 8th grade volleyball and cross country teams will have meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 8 on the first day back to school. Meetings will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the gym, and practice times and schedules will be handed out at this time as the coaches will answer all questions about the programs. Practices will start on Thursday, Sept. 10 for all 7th and 8th grade students.

SMS golf and tennis teams will meet the following Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 2:30 p.m. in the gym. Practice schedules will be handed out at this time and coaches will explain the programs.

Please make sure that the student has a recent physical that meets all standards to be eligible to practice or compete. All incoming 7th grade students need a physical dated after May 1, 2015. All 8th grade students who had a physical last year may use this physical again. The school recommends bringing a copy of your sports physical to the meetings to speed things up..

Students also need proof of medical insurance and these forms will be provided at the meeting. All forms are required to be signed and turned in to the coach before the student is eligible to participate.
