CF wildfires holding, for now

CLARK FORK — More than 300 residents from the Clark Fork area showed concern over the Clark Fork Complex fires during the wildfire meeting Thursday, burning in the mountains that surround the town. Fires across the border in Montana are also leaving smoky conditions for residents.

Members from the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, Idaho Department of Lands, Bonner County sheriff’s and fire crew leaders met with the residents to discuss the current status of the wildfires.

Christine Dahl, the Agency Administrator for the Clark Fork Complex Fires, said there are more fires in Idaho than any other state and with that comes a shortage of resources.

“We are in quite a unique situation this year. It is unprecedented the amount of wildfires we are seeing across the west,” Dahl said. “We are being very strategic about how we use (the resources).”
