SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly threatening a family member with a pistol during a dispute over the sale of a tablet computer.

Nicholas Lee Renick is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Renick is also being prosecuted as a persistent violator due to two prior felony convictions.

Renick, 29, made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Thursday via video feed from the county jail. Judge Penny Friedlander set his bail at $75,000 and appointed a public defender to represent him, court records show.

“This is all just a misunderstanding,” Renick said during the hearing.
