Put Americans first instead of refugees

Help me understand why some Americans choose to put their children, my children, our fellow Americans in second position behind foreigners by promoting refugee resettlement, despite the presence of terrorists on U.S soil? I fully support helping true refugees, but that can be done without subjecting innocent Americans to terror. It has been proven that the federal government has no current method to assuredly vet everyone coming to our country and terrorists are posing as refugees.
