NORDMAN — Bonner County is working with homeowners at Priest Lake to find a way through a 20-year struggle over a disputed boat launch.

The Outlet Bay boat launch was privately built at the terminus of a public road in 1961 and its use was regulated by the Outlet Bay Resort for the following three decades. The Bonner County commission initiated efforts in 1995 to classify the launch as public, touching off a protracted legal dispute that persists to this day.

“The long and the short of it is the top of the ramp is in a public right of way. The public has access to that,” said Steve Klatt, director of Bonner County Parks & Recreation.
