SANDPOINT — Northside Elementary has been ranked the 34th best elementary school in the country for its high state assessment test scores in reading, language and math by the online ranking organization The Best Schools.

The scores resulted from the 2012-2013 Idaho Standards Achievement Test, according to principal Perky Smith-Hagadone.

The school’s average test scores for third through fifth graders in reading, language usage, math, and fifth grade science was 96.4. Those scores also put Northside on the list of the top ten elementary schools in Idaho.

The school previously ranked first among all Idaho elementary schools for the 2012-2013 school year after taking the Smarter Balanced Assessment Field Test, according to the website schooldigger.com. It was also given a five star rating by the Idaho Department of Education for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years. Three other schools in the Lake Pend Oreille School District also received the five star rating. Seven rated four stars.
